GRAPHALLOY®
Bushings that Succeed in Tough H2S Service
When the project engineer at a manufacturer of high-pressure, gas driven pumps needed self-lubricating bushings for their pneumatic pumps, he chose GRAPHALLOY.
In mid-2021, the pump OEM’s Project Engineer contacted Graphalloy’s engineering team to discuss the possibility of using Graphalloy bushings in their newly designed pneumatic pumps.
The Project Engineer needed a self-lubricating bushing compatible with H2S gas, which is highly corrosive. The housing material is cast aluminum, 316SS plunger (shaft), with temperature range of -29°C to 100°C (-20°F to 212°F). Speed is 1ft/sec (87 cycles/min.).
After receiving the quote, the P.E. placed an order for 8 Graphalloy nickel-grade bushings.
This was the first time they were using Graphalloy in this pump line, although they had occasionally used it on some of their other pumps. The bushings were installed with no problems.
In mid-December 2021, the P.E. said the testing was a success and they would be shipping the pumps to their customer in a few weeks.
At the end of January, the P.E. told us that the pumps, installed at the customer site, were running very well and he placed an order for another 8 bushings to install in additional pumps. Graphalloy is now the standard in these pumps.
