GRAPHALLOY ® Bushings That Solve A Dry Running Sump Pump with PFAS-Free Requirements
GRAPHALLOY® bearings and bushings are used in many pump applications where there is a risk of dry-running, and have the added benefit of being PFAS-free. A pump manufacturer in France had a customer who required vertically suspended sump pumps, which would be used for brine water at 70°C. There was a possibility of dry run in this pump. There would also be some particles in the water. They were interested in Graphalloy's dry run abilities. They were also interested in a material that was PFAS-free, due to new regulations. Graphalloy engineering offered nickel grade Graphalloy bushings with 3 straight ID grooves, to help with the flush of the particles. All Graphalloy materials (Graphite-metal alloy) are PFAS-Free, and all Graphalloy materials can handle dry-running. The customer ordered 12 Graphalloy bushings for these pumps. After eight months in service, the pumps are running well, even during dry run episodes. Graphalloy can handle dry run due to its self-lubricating, non-galling features. Recently the customer contacted us to learn more about other Graphalloy materials, including Babbitt and Copper grades.
